Music in the Park 2006 The weather was excellent for our second Music in the Park event when we were joined by The Band of the Royal Air Force College. An audience of over 1,000 came along to the Park in Surfleet, near Spalding, which is owned by our conductor's parents Jack and Enid Wayman. £10,000 was raised for three charities, 'Hope and Homes for Children', 'The Spalding Hospice Foundation' and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). |

| The RAF Band then struck up with the National Anthem followed straight away by '633 Squadron' and 'Star Wars'. An amusing arrangement of 'The Lincolnshire Poacher' followed as well as a Beatles medley and some classic Radio Themes. The RAF's Swing Wing then gave us a nostalgic selection of Big Band numbers. | After about an hour, Cantemus took to the stage with a variety of folk and popular song arrangements before joining the band for one of the highlight's of the evening, a choral arrangement of Sibelius's 'Finlandia'. After more stirring stuff from the RAF including Elgar's 'Nimrod', Cantemus returned to the stage to join in the rousing finale of Henry Wood's 'Sea Songs'. |
