Eric Wayman hosted our 20th Anniversay Concert which featured some of the choir’s favourites from the past twenty years, both sacred and secular. | ||
Excerpt from a press publicity article:
“Ever-popular Spalding choir Cantemus celebrates its 20th anniversary
with a special concert of requests. And there’s an astounding repertoire
to make it a memorable night of music. Over the years, the choir has
sung everything under the sun apart from rap. There were the wonderful
folk songs sent floating around Salzburg’s ancient square, the Tudor
mass sung for a congregation of 2,000 in Notre Dame, Russian church
music introduced to the village churches of South Lincolnshire, themes
from James Bond and Guys and Dolls in a cabaret, and even a Gilbert and
Sullivan operetta. Under its founder conductor, Eric Wayman, there
aren’t many styles of music that haven’t been given voice by this
versatile choir - and it is partly the wide variety of music that brings
audiences back time after time and binds choir members themselves so
closely together.”
